Words of Life, By Madelin Talbert

Hello! My name is Madelin. I’m 18 so that means I’m going off to college shortly after this trip! Throughout High school I’ve heard so many stories of mission trips and adventures and I always wonder why I hadn’t joined in. This time I made sure I didn’t miss the mark! I’m so excited (and also nervous) about Haiti this Summer. I cannot wait to get to know everyone and more importantly, serve in such a big way!

These verses have helped me prepare for this experience, maybe they can help you too.

-(Galatians 6)...Carry one another’s burdens; In this way you will fulfill the law of Christ...So we must not get tired of doing good, for we will reap at the proper time if we don’t give up. Therefore, as we have the opportunity, we must work for the good of all, especially for those who belong to the household of faith.
-(Romans 12: 4-8)...Now as we have many parts in one body, and all the parts do not have the same function, in the same way we who are many are one body in Christ and individually members of one another. According to the grace given to us, we have different gifts: If prophecy, use it according to the standard of faith; If service, in service; If teaching, in teaching; If exhorting, in exhortation; giving, with generosity; leading, with diligence; showing mercy, with cheerfulness.
-(1 Corinthians 16:13-14)...Be alert, stand firm in the faith, be brave and strong. Your every action must be done with love.
-(Proverbs 31:8-9)...Speak up for those who have no voice, for the justice of all who are dispossessed. Speak up, judge righteously, and defend the cause of the oppressed and needy.
